13.02.2015, Violence against women is a serious issue in Macedonia. Even though there are many laws that should guarantee social justice to women, many women still get victims of domestic and sexual violence. As domestic violence happens behind closed doors it is very hard to proof. Especially women from rural areas are exposed to violence, because they have worse access to social infrastructures.
As a lot of women are feared of being stigmatized by the society, they rarely make legal steps against their punishers.
